Electrical help for the way you use your home today
Homes need more power, and more individual circuits, than they did when many Connecticut houses were built. New appliances, heat pumps, finished basements, home offices, outdoor living spaces and security devices all place new demands on an older electrical system.
That doesn't automatically mean you need to replace everything. A problem in one room might be a tripped GFCI, a failing breaker or an overloaded circuit rather than an undersized electrical service. Our job is to diagnose the real constraint first, explain it clearly and recommend work that fits the problem.
We repair what can reasonably be repaired, and give you clear options when an upgrade is the better long-term choice.
Electrical services we offer
Licensed, code-compliant electrical work, from a dead outlet to a panel upgrade, with permits and inspections handled.
Electrical Troubleshooting & Repairs
Breakers tripping? Outlets or lights not working? We trace the problem to its source instead of guessing from the symptom, then explain the safest, most practical fix.Panels & 200-Amp Service Upgrades
Make room for additions, HVAC equipment and modern electrical demands. We evaluate the service, the panel and the circuits already in use before recommending an upgrade, and provide a written proposal if one is needed.Outlets & Dedicated Circuits
Add power where you need it, kitchen appliances, ranges and dryers, televisions, garages, sheds, patios, workshops and remodels, without extension cords or an overloaded circuit.Indoor Lighting
Improve dark rooms and basements with recessed lighting, replacement fixtures, new layouts for remodels, and switch or dimmer upgrades. One fixture or a whole-home plan.Outdoor, Patio & Security Lighting
Exterior and patio lighting, motion floodlights, doorbell cameras, lamp posts, landscape connections and outdoor outlets for cooking and entertaining areas.Whole-Home Surge Protection
Panel-mounted protection for the expensive circuit boards in HVAC equipment, appliances and electronics, broader coverage than plug-in strips alone. No device stops every event, but it reduces everyday risk.Generator Connections
A standby generator isn't the right budget for every household. A professionally installed interlock kit is a more affordable way to power selected circuits from a portable generator during an outage.HVAC Electrical Support
Condenser circuits, exterior disconnects, heat-strip requirements and wiring updates for new heat pumps and replacement equipment, coordinated by one home-service team.Remodels & Additions
Plan the circuits, outlets, switches and lighting for a new living area with GFCI and arc-fault requirements and inspection needs considered from the start.Roof Heat Cable
For suitable ranch and single-story homes, heat cable can help with areas prone to ice buildup. Installs are scheduled through roughly mid-November and depend on safe roof access.
Electrical problems are not always obvious
One failed outlet can affect several others. A breaker can trip without appearing fully switched off. A GFCI in one part of the house can interrupt power somewhere that seems completely unrelated.
Call us if you're dealing with
- Breakers that repeatedly trip
- Outlets or lights that stopped working
- GFCI outlets that won't reset
- Three-way switches acting up
- Water or moisture near the panel
- A lamp post or exterior light with no power
- An issue you've tried to reset and can't resolve
- A fuse box or 60/100-amp service

Financing on qualifying projects. Spread a panel upgrade or a larger install over monthly payments, subject to approval. See current terms
Local electrical experience matters
Electrical work is governed by code, but the permit and inspection process still varies by municipality, particularly for panel upgrades, additions and HVAC installations.
We work throughout the Central Connecticut corridor, primarily within about 30–35 minutes of our Southington home base. We account for the property, the proposed work and the local inspection process when we build the scope, not after the work has started.

Questions homeowners ask
Short answers first. Call us and we'll talk it through, no pressure, no jargon.
Why does my breaker still look on if it has tripped?
A tripped breaker doesn't always move fully to OFF, it can sit near the middle and still appear on. Move it firmly to OFF, then back to ON. If it trips again, leave it off and call an electrician rather than resetting it repeatedly.
Several outlets are dead but no breaker looks tripped. Why?
A tripped GFCI is likely interrupting power to outlets farther along the same circuit. The controlling GFCI may be in a bathroom, garage, basement, kitchen or outdoors and may seem unrelated. Look for one with a raised RESET button. If it won't reset or trips again, the circuit should be evaluated.
Will a 200-amp upgrade stop a kitchen breaker tripping?
Not necessarily. Your panel can have plenty of total power while one kitchen circuit is still overloaded. In that case a new dedicated circuit solves the actual problem more directly, and costs far less.
How do I know whether I need a panel or service upgrade?
Common reasons to evaluate one: an older or deteriorated panel, no space for new circuits, a planned addition, major new appliances or HVAC equipment, and rising overall demand. The decision should rest on a load assessment and the condition of the system, not the age of the home alone.
Do I need an electrical upgrade before installing a heat pump?
It depends on the equipment and your existing service and panel. Some replacements use the existing setup; others need a new circuit, wiring, disconnect or a broader service upgrade. We review the electrical requirements alongside the HVAC plan so you know before installation day.
What does whole-home surge protection actually protect?
A panel-mounted protector helps shield connected equipment throughout the house from many voltage spikes, including the circuit boards in HVAC systems and appliances. It's broader than plug-in strips alone, though no device can guarantee protection from every electrical event.
Can I connect a portable generator to my panel?
Yes, through properly selected transfer equipment such as an approved interlock kit, which prevents utility and generator power from feeding the panel at the same time. Never backfeed a generator through an ordinary outlet; it endangers your household, utility workers and equipment.
Do I need a permit for electrical work in Connecticut?
Permits are generally required for many panel replacements, service upgrades, new circuits and additions, and exact requirements vary by municipality. We identify what applies and handle permits and inspections for the work we perform.
Can you add power to a shed, garage or patio?
Yes, lighting, general-use outlets or dedicated power for equipment. We first determine the expected load, routing, weather protection and code requirements so the installation suits the space.
How quickly can you schedule an electrician?
It depends on urgency and scope, but many standard appointments can be scheduled within about a week. Larger quoted projects are scheduled once you've reviewed and accepted the proposal. Phones are answered 24/7 for guidance on the next step.
Do you offer an electrical maintenance plan?
Electrical benefits are included in Snazzy's broader home-service membership, designed to add value across electrical, HVAC and plumbing. See current membership benefits
